In a resounding affirmation of the UAE’s global ascent, the Henley Passport Index mid-year 2025 report ranks the UAE passport as the 8th most powerful in the world - and the strongest in the Arab region. This historic achievement underscores the nation's growing international stature and influence.

Visa-Free Access to 183 Destinations
As of 2025, UAE passport holders enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 183 countries, opening doors across nearly every continent. This remarkable global access is a direct result of the UAE’s proactive and dynamic foreign policy, as well as its relentless pursuit of diplomatic engagement and bilateral agreements.
One standout example is the recent visa waiver agreement with China, allowing all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, including Emiratis, to enter visa-free - a major diplomatic win that helped boost the UAE's ranking significantly.
A Meteoric Rise in Global Mobility
In just a decade, the UAE has climbed 34 places - from 42nd in 2015 to 8th in 2025 - making it one of the most dramatic improvements in the index’s history. This momentum reflects the UAE’s broader vision: becoming a global leader not just in business and investment, but in diplomacy, travel, and soft power.
While Singapore continues to top the global list (193 destinations), the UAE now sits ahead of traditional powerhouses like the UK (6th) and the US (10th) — both of which have seen minor declines due to increasingly restrictive immigration policies.
Among Arab nations, the UAE stands in a league of its own — no other country from the region comes close in terms of mobility and global access.
The Bigger Picture: What This Means
The UAE’s passport power is more than just a travel perk — it’s a reflection of its growing geopolitical and economic clout. This enhanced global access makes the UAE even more attractive for:
High-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) looking to base themselves in a globally connected hub
Business leaders seeking access to international markets
Real estate investors who value visa mobility and global lifestyle advantages
Expats and professionals who now enjoy unmatched global freedom
As Dr. Christian H. Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, stated:
“Traditional mobility leaders are losing ground in a world where multipolarity is on the rise. Emerging economies like the UAE are investing in diplomatic capital while others retreat behind stricter policies.”
UAE: A Future-Ready Global Hub
From real estate and finance to technology and tourism, the UAE continues to position itself as a modern, globally integrated hub. With the world's 8th most powerful passport and a growing track record in safety, innovation, and diplomacy - the UAE isn't just rising, it’s leading.
